PCA 2018 - FAQ

What is PokerStars Caribbean Adventure 2018?

The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure is a nine-day poker event that takes place in The Bahamas. The 2018 event will be held at the Atlantis Resort and Casino from January 6-14, with the Main Event will taking place from January 8-14. Click here for the full schedule.

How old do I have to be to participate?

You must be at least 18 years of age to participate in any of the events. No persons under the age of 18 are allowed to enter the tournament area throughout the duration of the event.

Do I need a passport to get to The Bahamas?

Yes. All travelers, travelling to and from The Bahamas, need to have a passport or other accepted document that establishes the bearer’s identity and nationality. Make sure you start working to get your passport now should you require one; it is your responsibility to have proper documentation. We have provided links to some passport services below. If your country is not listed, visit Google to check if you need to take action.

How much does it cost to play each event?

The events have a variety of buy-ins. Please check the schedule page for full details on the tournaments available and the cost of entry.

How can I qualify for the Main Event?

There are numerous online qualification options open to players through PokerStars. Please see the Qualify page for full details.

How can I book accommodation for the event?

If you have won (or bought) a full PCA 2018 package you will be required to complete an online accommodations registration form, where you can input all hotel details, including requests for extensions and upgrades. You will then be contacted with rates and information regarding the request by the PCA Accommodations Team.

Can I purchase a Main Event package?

Yes, there are multiple ways in which you can purchase a package, visit the Buy-In page for full details.

Please Note: if you register for a tournament in advance of the event, we will reserve you a seat. If you do not arrive to collect your ticket and have not informed us of your un-registration BEFORE the start of the tournament, your funds will be added to the prize pool and you will not be entitled to a refund.

Players are able to buy into the Main Event via the client using the following options:

  • Seat Only ($10,000)
  • Seat and Hotel ($10,000 + $3,555)
  • Seat and Hotel plus Folio ($10,000 + $4,555)

Will there be currency exchange services?

There will be NO currency exchange active during the PCA 2018 event. It is your responsibility to ensure that you bring US dollars to use on-site. There are several banks just off property that do offer a limited currency exchange (up to $500 a day maximum). It is your responsibility for ensuring you have the correct funds (US dollars ONLY) to buy into any of the events on the schedule.

Can I buy in via debit/credit card?

We do NOT accept credit or debit cards as a means to buy in to events at the event.

Can I choose my Main Event starting day?

It is possible for players to select and register for their preferred start day. Remember that PCA 2018 has two start days, Day 1A January 8, and Day 1B January 9.

How can I buy into the side events on the schedule?

There are multiple ways in which you can buy into side events, visit the Buy-in page for full details.

Is it possible to withdraw or deposit funds using my Stars Account during the event?

No, this option is no longer available at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.

How will I get paid if I win the tournament?

We will allow you to take a portion in cash. The rest can be deposited into your Stars Account if you have a COM or EU account or wired directly to your bank account. Players will be subjected to a Maximum Cash Payout Rule, as part of the PSLive Terms of Use.

It is also very important to note that you are allowed to carry more than $10,000 through Customs but you MUST declare it. Bahamas Customs are known to be very strict with regards to this rule.

Will there be a party? Can I bring a guest?

Yes. There will be a Party held on January 13 from 20:00–23:00 outside on the Royal Deck and all players are allowed to bring one guest. You can collect your party wristbands from the Information Desk during the event.

Is there an agreement I need to sign to play in any of the events?

Yes. You are required to accept and sign the PSLive Terms of Use to sign up for a PSLive account. The PSLive Terms of Use are comprised of The Stars Group rules and regulations governing live poker tournaments and cash games during tour events. Upon registration to a Tournament for the first time, you will need to sign and accept the PSLive Terms on site in The Bahamas in order to receive a PSLive Card, which is mandatory to play in any of the tournaments.

Will there be merchandise for players?

Players who participate in the Main Event will receive a PokerStars Caribbean Adventure player bag worth $200. These can be collected from the Information Desk. You will need to show a valid tournament buy-in receipt from the Main Event to be eligible.
